I went to NYC to become a Rockette, but left as a designer instead! I have a degree in Theatre Dance from Marymount Manhattan College, where I also studied graphic design.
Working on print collateral for small businesses was originally a way to make ends meet as I went on auditions and castings for commercials, shows, and modeling gigs (ask me about the time I got to hang with a kangaroo in Manhattan!), but it quickly shifted to become my passion.
When I should have been researching choreographers, going to ballet class, and working on my less-than-stellar vocal skills, I was playing with the Adobe Creative Suite, clipping magazine ads (this was pre-Pinterest), and hanging around the print shop and paperies.
My interest in weddings peaked after my own engagement. Around that time I booked jobs walking in bridal fashion week and then as a model for a wedding planner’s marketing campaigns, which lead to further experience working behind the scenes at luxury events. Suitesmith was born from all of these experiences and more.
I currently live in Rochester, NY with my husband, cats, and a baby boy on the way. I work on just a few events per year so that I can create an entire package of print and digital designs that you won’t see on the store shelf!
Visual Communications en Suite.
Suitesmith works with couples and event planners to define, design, and execute the digital and printed materials needed to engage your guests before, during, and after a celebration.
We believe that even the smallest details shape your guest’s overall experience, and that experience doesn't necessarily start or stop with an invitation. From save the dates to welcome gifts and beyond, we organize all of your design details into one simple package so you can put the focus on your upcoming marriage or milestone event!
What’s art direction?
You and/or your event planner have come up with an amazing creative direction for how your event will look and feel, and as your art director, Alex can tell you what typeface, imagery, and what media will support that vision (from evites to letterpressed invitations, to large format banners and digital displays).
From there, she’ll use graphic design and illustration expertise to bring your designs to life, and work closely with trusted printers, paper brands, calligraphers, photographers and more to ensure impeccable physical products.
